Christ Church, besides being the oldest church in the
capital city of Kerala, is also the largest congregation
in the Diocese of Madhya Kerala. I personally had the
privilege of associating with this Parish in different
facets of my pastoral and Episcopal ministry , first as
the Asst Vicar (1973-74), then as a regular visitor for
worship while I was a teacher in the Kerala United
Theological Seminary and thereafter as the
Presbyter-in-Charge (1997-99). I have always appreciated
the activities taken up by the congregation in our
mission fields, support to various missions in India,
support to various social and humanitarian projects for
the service of the needy in Kerala and throughout the
country and notice with satisfaction the resolve of the
Organizing Committee to launch a ”mission outreach
project” in connection with the sesquicentennial
celebrations as the main project.
In connection with the Sesquicentennial celebrations of
CSI Christ Church, Trivandrum, a special website is
being launched titled
www.celebrating150.org giving all
the details of the Programs and Projects for the
yearlong celebrations from 14 November2008 to 15
November2009.The members of this congregation and their
children who have grown up in this sanctuary are in very
important positions all over the world and through this
website , they will be able to maintain organic contact
to their native church during the Sesquicentennial Year
and be able to partner in the Projects
and also contribute their experiences in this sanctuary
during various phases of their association with this
oldest church in the capital city of Kerala
I congratulate the Vicar and members of the Organizing
Committee for this novel endeavor and wish every success
for the Celebrations. Let this Jubilee be a time of
prayer and thanksgiving to God for the manifold
blessings received by the Congregation and let goodwill
and love flow abundantly to the less privileged in the
society around us.
I wish all success and urge to pray daily for all the
good works planned for its fulfillment
Rt. Rev. Thomas Samuel
Bishop in Madhya Kerala
